Choose a Square Oak Dining Table

Square Oak Dining Table

Nearly everyone remembers the luscious meals shared around the square oak dining table! Once used only for special occasions, today’s oak dining table is used on a daily basis. Family dinners, entertaining or parties, the square oak dining table has served us well over the centuries.

The oak table is also quite versatile. With the addition of leaves, it is easy to extend your table to accommodate a larger group of diners. Square oak tables come with one, two or three leaves. The leaves are easily stored in a closet or beneath a bed.

There are many types of chairs to accompany your dining table. Oak chairs can be made to match your table, or they may be stained to a slightly different hue. Chairs may have arms, or no arms at all. Captain’s chairs, traditionally placed at the head of the square dining table, usually have arms, whereas the other chairs in the set don’t. But you can select whatever chair suits your needs.

Dining tables receive a lot of wear and must be protected. Waxing the surface is beneficial, as is clear-coating the oak. When a large function takes place it is best to place a pad over your dining table, then spread your favorite table cloth. The padding is a great buffer against burns, spills and other accidents. After the meal, simply remove the pad and store it, leaving your oak dining table’s surface free to be admired.

Even if you live in smaller quarters, square oak dining tables are made in a size that will fit right in. A pedestal base takes up less room. And you can add a leave when guests are coming to dinner. After dinner, remove the leave and reduce your table size once again.
